Fresh Turmeric with Leaves and Stems
Fresh turmeric grown at DNS Farm on Salt Spring Island, with its distinctive golden colour and warm, earthy flavour. Use it in curries, soups, teas, smoothies, and other favourite recipes. Each order includes the turmeric leaves and stems, as shown in the product photos. Seasonal availability.
The leaves and tender shoots are edible and can add a gentle aroma to soups, rice dishes, or tea. You can also wrap food in the leaves while cooking. Finely chop tender stalks; tougher pieces can be used to flavour a dish and removed before serving.
Storage for Rhizomes: For fridge storage, separate the rhizome from the leaves and stems, then keep it unpeeled in a sealed bag or airtight container in the crisper drawer. For longer storage, freeze the rhizome whole or in pieces in a freezer bag. You can grate it straight from frozen.
